During this time period I was successful in pursuing a class action, entitled Dean K. Phillips, et al. v. United States Department of Labor , et al. In that case, I represented Dean Phillips and other Vietnam veterans in a lawsuit against the Department of Labor of the United States and the Department of Labor for the State of Colorado. The veterans alleged that they had been denied bene fits to which they were entitled by Federal statute. The case was resolved in a settlement favorable to the veterans. Hundreds of Vietnam era veterans received assistance from the Colorado Department of Labor as a result of this case.

Personal

I have been married to Trish Culkin since 1968. We have two adult children, Kate Culkin, a Professor of American History at City University of New York; and, Sara Mengshol, a Board Certified Pediatric Pathologist. Trish, Kate and I moved to Colorado in 1969 and have made it our home for over forty years. In my spare time I enjoy skiing, bicycling, climbing, and supporting both the Broncos and the Nuggets.
